The traditional fighting system has seen some sensible modifications, including the removal of the "Rank System" and ground breakable objects. The match system remains largely intact, but with some tweaks – two battle plans (foreground/background) are still used, although some stages now employ a single plane, forcing players to rely on basic defense tactics to avoid attacks.

The main addition to this title is the introduction of two new characters: Rick Strowd, a mysterious fighter with his own unique fighting style, and Li Xiangfei, a young Chinese martial arts fighter. These newcomers bring fresh dynamics to the series, adding depth and variety to what was already an engaging gameplay experience.
