Video Checkers is a classic action & adventure game for the Atari 2600, released in 1978 . In this game, you can play with a friend or against different levels of computer AI. Mastering all the levels will take skill and strategy, as well as a bit of luck.
The game follows standard checkers rules, with some unique twists. If there's a jump available, you must take it, and if you reach king's row and are promoted, you can't move again that turn, but must wait for your next turn.
Gameplay involves capturing or blocking all your opponent's pieces in games 1 through 9, which become increasingly difficult. Game 10 is a two-player game, where the objective is to capture your opponent's pieces. Games 11 through 19 are giveaway checkers, where the goal is to lose or be unable to move any of your pieces.
The game also features difficulty switches that allow you to customize the gameplay experience. The left switch lets you set up the board as you prefer, while the right switch determines which player starts in a two-player game or which side the computer player plays on in a one-player game.
