Nazo Puyo (Secret Puyo) is a puzzle game that takes its inspiration from the "Quest mode" found in many Puyo Puyo games. In this solo experience, you'll focus on fulfilling specific goals on a screen already filled with a particular arrangement of Puyos .
The objectives may be to simply clear all Puyos on-screen, eliminate all of a certain colour, or remove a set number of Puyos at once. You might also be asked to create a "rensa", or chain reaction, within a specific number of steps.
A "rensa" is created by arranging the Puyos in such a way that when one set of four or more is eliminated, it triggers neighbouring Puyos to fall, creating new combinations and eliminating them. With limited access to a single colour of Puyos , completing these goals can be challenging.
The game also features an edit mode, allowing you to craft your own puzzles using all the available options.
Nazo Puyo was released for the Sega Game Gear on July 23rd, 1993.
