Eschatos is a vertically scrolling shoot'em up. Some time in the 22nd century the moon gets covered by a strange organic matter of alien origin, named Purple Erosion. Aliens then start to invade Earth from the moon and the player has to fight back.
The game has two main modes: Original and Advanced , as well as Time Attack. The game focuses on scoring with a ship that has two attacks: a strong straight shot and a weaker wide shot, but also a shield that can absorb enemy fire.
In Original mode, there's only one type of pick-up, the Flash-Item, which is delivered in a small container. When picked up, it destroys smaller enemies and damages bigger ones. In Advanced mode, there's also a yellow version of the Flash-Item that changes enemy bullets into score items.
Scoring is based on destroying all enemies in a wave quickly and efficiently. Destroying all enemies increases the score multiplier, while killing them faster gives bigger wave bonuses. There are also hidden Wonderwitch score pick-ups throughout the game that can be picked up for extra points.
Time Attack is similar to Original , but with a time limit instead of lives. The game has four difficulties and an Endless mode that restarts after beating the final boss.
The game also includes ports of Judgement Silversword: Rebirth Edition and Cardinal Sins, both originally made for the WonderSwan Color handheld by Bandai.
