Virtual Chess 64 is probably the only chess game created for the Nintendo 64 console. It features both 2D and 3D graphics that the player can choose according to his/her own preference. It also features mini cut scenes when a pawn loses, where cartoon-like characters representing the attacking and losing pawns fight each other.
The gameplay is based on puzzle-solving, where players must move their pieces to capture their opponent's king. The AI of the game is extremely high, even in the easy levels, making it challenging for players to win.
