Auto Destruct is a mission-based game where you engage in car combat. It differs from other titles such as Destruction Derby and Twisted Metal , which focus on arena-type face-offs with multiple opponents.
The story begins when your family is killed by a mysterious cult. You then join an underground organization dedicated to eradicating this cult, and are given an armed car that can be customized to some extent. The 25 missions vary in complexity, including search-and-destroy rounds, escort missions, and defense missions.
