Burning Road , released for the PlayStation in 1996, is an action & adventure game. The story revolves around racing opponents on different tracks, while also crossing checkpoints to add time to the timer at the top of the screen.
The gameplay involves driving four types of cars - muscle cars, a drag car, and a monster truck - each with unique strengths and weaknesses. Players must finish ahead of opponents and cross checkpoints to increase their time. The game features three difficulty levels and three game modes: Practice , where players choose a track and compete against multiple opponents; Career , which consists of multi-heat events where the last-place driver is eliminated until only one car finishes; and multiplayer mode for two friends to battle each other using the PlayStation Link Cable.
The game also includes various camera angles, such as first and third-person perspectives, as well as a full replay mode that shows the entire race.
