Assetto Corsa is a driving simulator. Its stress is on physics models and vehicles' dynamic behaviour and general realism; for example, the tyre rubber deposited on track and the sun position are calculated in real time.
The game has several modes, including solo career mode, practice sessions, and special events such as drag races and drift challenges. There are also quick race and race weekend modes available in both solo and multiplayer options.
Driver assistance is offered in four settings, resulting in four levels of difficulty. The game supports various control peripherals, including steering wheels and motion systems, as well as keyboard and gamepad controls. It also features triple monitor view, track IR, 3D VISION, and the Oculus Rift.
The game can be played from a first-person view or from inside the cockpit, on the hood, or exterior. Additional features include car customization, car setup, time of day selection, telemetry, and real-time control of movable aerodynamics parts.
Licensed circuits in the game include Imola, Monza, Silverstone, Nürburgring, and others. The licensed car roster currently includes over 50 vehicles from various manufacturers.
