Trulon: The Shadow Engine is a retro turn-based RPG with a card deck system, based on a fantasy universe by Johan Lillbacka. You will control a party of up to four characters, united in trying to find the cause of a strange illness. The game world is divided into two larger countries: the Kingdom of Tripudia and Maelon, an industrialized country.
The gameplay involves using cards that can be equipped by each character, with different types such as mechanism cards for health or special moves, tactics cards for fighting, movement cards for extra turns or defense boosts, and deception cards for the spy. The game features a turn-based system where you must manage your card deck and make strategic decisions during fights.
The game also has exploration elements, with 3D environments and 2D sprite characters, allowing for conversations, exploration, and fights to take place in the same view. You can collect magical energies called Gaudium and Dolorum by defeating enemies or collecting orbs, which can be used to restore health and improve character stats.
