Dokapon Kingdom has been overrun by monsters that have stolen the kingdom's riches. For the brave adventurer who returns the wealth, their majesty offers his daughter's hand in marriage and the title of future king. This is not a requirement for playing as a female character, which results in an altered ending.

The game offers three different modes: Story Mode, Normal Mode, and Shopping Race. You create your character and begin play, with the mode you choose affecting the overall goal to be achieved. In Story Mode, you follow the standard plot, while in Normal Mode, you can generate certain factors of play ahead of time, such as starting level. There are three started classes (warrior, chief, and magician) that can eventually become eleven through levelling.

The gameplay is a light role-playing game with basic jobs, a battle system, and upgrades. The game features a board game scenario with a spinner that allows you to move around the board, but it's also very much a 2-player game, with one player controlled by the computer at all times.


