The NHL 16 is the 25th edition in Electronic Arts' long-running ice-hockey series. Its equivalent for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is NHL: Legacy Edition .
The game introduces EA Sports Hockey League (EASHL), a multiplayer feature that was briefly tested in NHL 15 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases. The Be A Pro progression system has been reworked, while the Hockey Ultimate Team mode now includes a Single Player Seasons option to prepare players for online play. To help players of all skill levels, visual training aids have been added. Every arena now features its own unique atmosphere, complete with team-specific chants, celebrations, mascots and signature props.
The gameplay in NHL 16 focuses on realistic ice-hockey action, with a strong emphasis on competition and teamwork. Players can choose from a variety of game modes, including Exhibition, Tournament, and Season Mode, to suit their preferred playing style. The game also features improved graphics and physics, making for a more immersive gaming experience.
