LEGO The Hobbit is an action-adventure game where players guide Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf The Grey, Thorin Oakenshield and a variety of other characters on an adventure inspired by the first two films in Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit' film trilogy, based on J.R.R. Tolkien's books.

The gameplay involves switching between characters using the 3DS Touch Screen, controlling them with the Circle Pad, and attacking with X and Y buttons. Players also use L to switch characters, R to perform unique super moves, B to dash, and A to interact with objects.

Collecting studs allows players to purchase in-game items, Gold Bricks contribute to the overall game percentage, while Red Bricks unlock extras within the Pause Menu.
