The story is set in space where aliens are attacking Earth. Waves of alien craft come from the top and the player must destroy them without crashing into them or running out of fuel. The goal is to reach the end of each level and navigate through an asteroid field.

Gameplay involves shooting down enemy spaceships while avoiding collisions with the ground, enemies that shoot back, and running out of fuel. The ship's laser overheating system also adds pressure to the gameplay. With its unique speech synthesizer feature, Parsec provides an immersive gaming experience.
