The game Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is based on the DC comic and ties in with the 2011 movie Green Lantern . The player takes control of Hal Jordan, part of the intergalactic Green Lantern Corps. Long ago, the guardians of the universe created androids known as the Manhunters to act as an interstellar police force. However, these androids became corrupted and started punishing all life in the galaxy. They were exiled but have now returned to seek revenge.
The gameplay involves mostly 2D side scrolling action. The player can use the Green lantern ring as various weapons such as a gun, sword, or hammer to defeat enemies. Some sections of the game are played from a behind view.
