Steep is an open-world winter sports game that lets you explore four extreme sports: paragliding, skiing, snowboarding, and wingsuit flying. The game features a mountain in the Alps to start with, but another one in Alaska was added later for free. You're free to wander around and can switch between sports at any time. There's no set path to follow, but by unlocking base camps, spotting drop zones, and leveling up, you can make steady progress through increased difficulty levels.

The game offers different controls and possibilities for each sport. Skiing and snowboarding are great for performing stunts, while wingsuit flying is about avoiding obstacles and staying close to the ground to score points. Paragliding focuses on navigating the best course to reach checkpoints. Each challenge has its own unique focus, such as fast times or tricks.

As you play, you can earn medals up to three times in each challenge, which you can retry infinitely. Your progress is tracked across six categories based on your playing style: Bone Collector, Explorer, Extreme Rider, Freerider, Freestyler, and Pro Rider. You'll also unlock new gear to customize your characters, as well as experience mountain stories and events called memorable moments.
