Hunter's Trophy 2: Europa , the sequel to Hunter's Trophy , is a hunting game set in five European environments. Players can hunt over 20 types of prey, including boars, chamois, deer, duck, fox, hare and pheasant.
In the hunting season mode, each environment has six hunting plans that unlock new animals, locations, permits, skills and guns. As players complete missions, they gain experience points to level up their characteristics, such as concentration, dog movement, shot accuracy and stealth. A shooting tournament for two players focuses on accuracy and reflexes.
Tracking is discovered by using a locating looking glass icon in the environment, where the type of animal is identified. The hunter must follow the scent of the animal, which is indicated by red clouds and a blue outline when close. The dog accompanying the hunter must move around, run and jump to track down the prey.
The game features three types of dogs, each with different behavior, unlocked gradually. Players can also engage in "beating" as a hunting option. A third game mode, "Hunting Week", allows players to freely explore one environment, combining different hunts in a single session.
Gameplay is from a first-person view, with options for stabilizing the gun while aiming and three types of scopes: traditional, free cursor, and a mix of both. The Wii U version requires a bundled white or brown ball trap gun peripheral.
