Gameplay involves a mix of driving and fighting on foot, each offering unique strategies. While on foot characters can move, jump and have a barge attack as well as a breaker - an on-foot super that provides double jump, a speed boost and a strong ability unique for each of the sixteen available characters. Characters can also jump and hang on to cars, and be shaken off.

Multiplayer modes include two online multiplayer modes: Brawl and Free-for-All, and the Bots game mode which is played against bots in single-player. Using the in-game currency or real money through in-app purchases skins, emotes, vehicle emotes and shouts can be unlocked. The game also features a Challenge Series mode with seven challenges divided over the available game modes, with story elements and cut-scenes showing clashes between two characters.
