The story of Open Season revolves around two main characters, Boog and Elliot. Boog is a domesticated bear who tries to return to civilization after being released in a nearby forest due to an unfortunate misadventure. Meanwhile, Elliot is a one-horned deer who desires to be Boog's partner.
To achieve his goal, Boog must prove himself to the creatures of the forest by helping them get rid of hunters. By gaining their respect, he can convince the creatures to help him reach his hometown. This process requires teamwork and strategy between Boog and the various animals in the forest.
Open Season is a third-person view action game that follows the player's control over Boog in the forest. The gameplay involves using the different forest creatures to resolve simple puzzles by throwing them at targets. As the player progresses, they can collect achievement points that unlock new abilities for Boog.
Open Season was released on September 19th, 2006 for the Gamecube console and falls under the genre of Action & Adventure.
