Heartland , released in 1970, is a platformer that follows a meta-referential plot involving a struggle between good and evil. A book's last six pages have become lost, and the player must navigate the game world to complete the story and save the white pages from being destroyed by evil.
The gameplay involves navigating through six levels with distinctly cutesy themes and colourful graphics. Each level is complicated, requiring players to make their way back to base within a time limit before progressing to the next level. Wizards can be shot, and there are also opportunities for character interaction throughout each level.
