About

Bow, known as Bosch in the Japanese version, is a playable character in Breath of Fire II. As a member of the Grassrunner clan, he resembles an anthropomorphic dog and works as a thief and ranger. Early in the game's plot, Bow is falsely accused of stealing a royal tiara, prompting the protagonist Ryu to set out and clear his name.
In combat, Bow utilizes crossbows for ranged physical attacks and possesses defensive and healing magic, making him a vital support party member. His utility extends to the world map, where his unique hunting ability allows players to target wild game to acquire healing items. As the narrative progresses, he can undergo a shamanic fusion, transforming his appearance and boosting his combat capabilities significantly.
The character's legacy is preserved across several distinct releases within the franchise's history. He appears in the fan-driven Breath Of Fire II - Retranslated Homebrew] (1990) and the [Breath of Fire II [English Retranslation] (1995), both of which aimed to provide players with a more accurate representation of his original dialogue and personality. His prominence during this era of gaming aligns with the release window of other mid-1990s titles like PO'ed (1996), marking a distinct period of transition for role-playing games and console software.
