About

Talon is a swift, agile raptor-like dinosaur who represents the Virtuous Beast of Survival in the Primal Rage fighting game series. He fights to protect his pack and family on Urth, utilizing quick slashing attacks and pouncing maneuvers. He is one of the core playable characters in the original 1994 Primal Rage arcade game and its various home console ports.
During the mid-1990s fighting game boom, Atari Games heavily promoted the character across various platforms. Following the initial arcade success, the character featured prominently in the 1995 home console ports of Primal Rage, which spanned platforms like the Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and PlayStation. To bolster the franchise's reach, cross-promotional marketing tied the character and his home game to other contemporary releases. Promotional materials and demos for Primal Rage (1995) were packaged alongside or advertised within other Acclaim Entertainment and Atari titles of the era, such as the Super Nintendo racing game Dirt Trax FX (1995) and earlier ports like Raiden Trad (1992).
This cross-promotional strategy persisted into the next console generation. The character's legacy and the franchise's branding were utilized in promotional campaigns for high-speed racing titles, including Extreme-G 3 [Promo Not For Resale] (2000) and the retail release of XG3 Extreme G Racing (2000). Through these diverse software tie-ins and demo distributions, the character remained a highly visible figurehead for the franchise's aggressive marketing campaign during the decade.
