Deck13 Interactive GmbH is a German game development studio founded in 2001. The developer is known for creating the fantasy action role-playing game Venetica, released between 2009 and 2011, and collaborating with CI Games to develop the challenging dark fantasy action RPG Lords of the Fallen in 2014.
Prior to these major action-oriented titles, the studio cultivated its design capabilities through point-and-click adventure games, but transitioned to 3D action-adventure design with
Venetica. This title, which saw staggered releases in 2009, 2010, and 2011 depending on the territory and platform, followed the story of Scarlett, the daughter of Death, in a stylized, supernatural version of Venice. The project allowed the studio to refine its real-time combat mechanics, cinematic storytelling, and narrative branching.
Building upon this experience, the developer shifted toward a much darker, high-fidelity aesthetic for its next major project. This culminated in the release of
Lords of the Fallen in 2014. To cater to dedicated fans of the challenging action genre, the title was distributed in multiple physical formats, including the
Lords of the Fallen [Limited Edition] and the highly sought-after
Lords of the Fallen [Collector's Edition], both launching in 2014. These premium releases featured exclusive digital content, soundtracks, and physical memorabilia, cementing the game's status as a landmark release for the studio and establishing its reputation in the emerging "Soulslike" subgenre.
