Granzella Inc. was formed by key creators of the Disaster Report (Zettai Zetsumei Toshi) series. They successfully acquired the IP rights to revive the franchise, developing Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 4Plus: Summer Memories (released globally as Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories) and the spiritual spin-off Kyoei Toshi. Additionally, they revived the classic shoot 'em up franchise with the release of R-Type Final 2.
Established in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, the studio emerged following the cancellation of several projects at Irem. This transition allowed the developers to preserve their unique design philosophy, which prioritizes player choice, environmental navigation, and tense survival scenarios.
