Founded in 1999, I-Imagine Interactive was a pioneering South African game development studio. The company is best known for developing the Xbox stunt driving title Chase: Hollywood Stunt Driver and the futuristic vehicular combat game Final Armada.
The studio's early technical foundations were established with the initial release of
Final Armada in 2000, showcasing their proprietary 3D game engine technology. This expertise in vehicle physics paved the way for a partnership with publisher BAM! Entertainment to produce
Chase: Hollywood Stunt Driver in 2002. Developed as an exclusive for the Xbox console, the title tasked players with executing complex vehicular stunts across various movie-set environments, utilizing a specialized physics system to simulate cinematic car chases.
Following this, the developer returned to its debut intellectual property, reimagining it for a wider audience. This resulted in the 2007 release of
Final Armada for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable, published by Virgin Play. This iteration expanded on the original premise, casting players as pilots of the versatile "Aggressor" vehicle in a sci-fi campaign against an alien threat known as the "Theocracy." The game emphasized tactical weapon switching and terrain navigation, representing the culmination of the studio's focus on action-oriented driving mechanics before their eventual transition to mobile development and subsequent closure.
