Jorudan is a Japanese game developer established in 1979. The company developed several notable retro titles, including shooters like Task Force Harrier and Imperium, the RPG Gdleen, and the SNES action game Xardion. They also worked on licensed titles such as Aliens vs Predator for the SNES and multiple entries in the Meitantei Conan franchise.
During the late 1980s and early 1990s, the studio specialized in arcade-style action and shoot-'em-up ports, collaborating with publishers like Sega and Vic Tokai. This era produced the Master System port of
Captain Silver and the Sega Mega Drive release
Task Force Harrier EX. They also developed the Super Famicom mecha shooter
Kidou Soukou Dion, which was localized in North America as
Imperium.
As the gaming landscape shifted, the studio transitioned into developing licensed adventure games, becoming a key developer for the
Meitantei Conan franchise on handheld platforms. They adapted the popular detective manga into interactive mystery games, beginning with
Meitantei Conan: Chika Yuuenchi Satsujin Jiken for the Game Boy in 1996. This was followed by several sequels, including
Meitantei Conan: Gouka Ressha Satsujin Jiken and entries for the WonderSwan, such as
Meitantei Conan: Nishi no Meitantei Saidai no Kiki!?. These titles emphasized puzzle-solving, clue gathering, and text-based interrogation, defining the developer's output during the late 1990s and cementing their role in bringing the anime franchise to portable gaming audiences.
