Takara Tomy has developed and published numerous video games based on popular anime and toy franchises. They are responsible for titles in the Naruto Shippuden series, including Naruto Shippuden: Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX and its sequel, as well as Naruto RPG 3: Reijuu vs. Konoha Shoutai. Additionally, they created games for the Zoids franchise, such as Zoids: Battle Colosseum and Zoids Alternative, and the Katekyoo Hitman Reborn! series.
Following the 2006 merger of toy giants Takara and Tomy, the newly unified company leveraged its extensive licensing portfolio to establish a strong presence on contemporary gaming platforms, particularly the Nintendo DS and Wii. This era of development focused heavily on translating popular manga and toy properties into interactive experiences.
The company expanded the
Naruto franchise with
Naruto RPG 3: Reijuu vs. Konoha Shoutai (2006), utilizing the Nintendo DS touch screen for turn-based battles. On the Nintendo Wii, they advanced the fighting genre with
Naruto Shippuden: Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX (2007) and its sequel
Naruto Shippuden: Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX 2 (2007), integrating motion-controlled mechanics.
Simultaneously, the
Zoids property saw diverse adaptations, ranging from the tactical card-battle system of
Zoids: Battle Colosseum (2006) on DS to the darker, military-themed simulation
Zoids Alternative (2007) on the Xbox 360. The developer also adapted the
Katekyoo Hitman Reborn! anime into fighting games like
Katekyoo Hitman Reborn! DS (2007) and
Katekyoo Hitman Reborn! DS Flame Rumble Kaien Ring Soudatsuen (2007). They also produced unique lifestyle titles, such as the self-improvement simulation
Dekiru Otoko no Mote Life: Hiru no Mote Kouza Hen (2008).
