UNiT Inc. is a Japanese game development studio that contributed to several notable titles in the 1990s and 2000s. The company is recognized for its development work on the tactical RPG Arc the Lad (1995) and its spin-off Arc The Lad: Monster Game With Casino Game (1997). Additionally, UNiT Inc. worked on the puzzle game Tetris S (1996) for the Sega Saturn and the handheld title Me & My Katamari (2006) for the PlayStation Portable.
UNiT Inc.'s involvement with the landmark tactical RPG series began with the original
Arc the Lad (1995) on the PlayStation, later re-released under the
Arc the Lad [Playstation the Best] (1996) budget label. The studio expanded its footprint within this franchise by developing
Arc The Lad: Monster Game With Casino Game (1997), a fan-disc expansion that allowed players to trade monsters and play casino minigames using save data from the main series.
Beyond the Arc the Lad franchise, the developer adapted classic puzzle gameplay for Sega's 32-bit console with
Tetris S (1996), which also saw a budget re-release as
Tetris S [SegaSaturn Collection] (1996). A decade later, the studio transitioned to handheld development, collaborating with Namco on the rolling action game
Me & My Katamari (2006) for the PlayStation Portable, which later received a budget reissue as
Me & My Katamari [The Best] (2006). These projects established the studio's versatility in handling both high-profile RPG spin-offs and major third-party intellectual properties across different console generations.
