About

The Copper Sword is a basic, low-tier weapon typically purchased or found early in a player's quest to provide a minor boost to attack power. In the Dragon Quest (formerly Dragon Warrior) franchise, it serves as an iconic starter sword for heroes and companions. It also appears as an early-game equipment option in the PlayStation RPG Guardian's Crusade.
Within the Game Boy Color release of Dragon Warrior III (2000), this weapon is purchasable in the starting kingdom of Aliahan and the town of Reeve. It can be equipped by multiple character classes, including the Hero, Warriors, Clerics, and Sages, making it a versatile early investment for managing party resources.
In Dragon Warrior 7 (2001) for the PlayStation, the weapon is acquired in the early segments of the Estard continent. It serves as a vital upgrade for the Hero and Prince Kiefer before they venture into the game's first combat-heavy tablet worlds.
The transition to 3D in Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (2006) gave the weapon a distinct physical model, purchasable in Farebury. Beyond direct combat use, it functions as a key crafting component in the Alchemy Pot, where players can combine it with a Bronze Knife to create a Bronze Sword.
In the standalone RPG Guardian's Crusade (1999), the protagonist Knight can equip this weapon shortly after leaving his home village of Sanoba, establishing a baseline for physical damage output before encountering more complex Living Toys.
