Founded in 1998, CyberFront Corporation was a prominent Japanese publisher and developer. The company specialized in porting PC games to consoles, localizing foreign titles for the Japanese market, and publishing visual novels. It was dissolved in December 2013.
During its initial years of operation, the publisher established its market presence by handling Japanese Windows releases of popular arcade and console properties, including
Densha de Go 2 in 1999 and
Puzzle Bobble 4 in 2000. The company expanded its portfolio by publishing the adventure game
Only You in 2002 and securing licensing agreements to bring Western intellectual properties to Japan, such as the action game
Hulk in 2003.
The publisher also catered to dedicated fanbases through specialized releases. In 2004, it published the romance visual novel
Memories Off: Sorekara [Limited Edition]. It subsequently branched into rhythm and puzzle genres, distributing the rhythm game
DJ Max Portable [Prestige Package] and publishing the action-puzzle title
Kollon in 2006. Through these diverse licensing and distribution agreements, the company maintained a steady output of niche software across multiple gaming platforms throughout the 2000s.
