Bokujou Monogatari is a long-running agricultural simulation series that debuted with the 1996 Super Famicom game Bokujou Monogatari. The series includes titles such as Bokujou Monogatari 3: Heart ni Hi o Tsukete and Bokujou Monogatari: Yasuragi No Ki, focusing on crop cultivation, animal husbandry, and social relationships. Internationally, the franchise was historically localized under the name Harvest Moon.
Following the original 1996
Bokujou Monogatari, the franchise expanded onto Sony platforms, leading to budget-line re-releases such as
Bokujou Monogatari: Harvest Moon [PlayStation The Best] (1999). Handheld entries also saw significant success, including
Bokujou Monogatari 3: Boy Meets Girl (2000) for the Game Boy Color.
On the PlayStation 2, the series introduced
Bokujou Monogatari 3: Heart ni Hi o Tsukete (2001), which later received a budget reissue as
Bokujou Monogatari 3: Heart Ni Hi O Tsukete [The Best] (2001). Portability remained a core focus for the brand, exemplified by
Bokujou Monogatari: Harvest Moon Boy And Girl [PSP The Best] (2004) on the PlayStation Portable.
The Nintendo DS era brought touch-screen mechanics to the series in
Bokujou Monogatari: Kimi To Sodatsu Shima (2007), while home consoles received
Bokujou Monogatari: Yasuragi No Ki (2007) for the Wii, utilizing motion controls for farming tasks. These releases established the franchise's signature loop of daily chores, town festivals, and marriage mechanics across multiple hardware generations.
