About

The Cake Mania series follows the protagonist Jill Evans as she runs various bakeries, managing customer orders and upgrading kitchen equipment. The franchise includes titles such as Cake Mania (2007), Cake Mania 2 (2008), Cake Mania 3 (2009), and Cake Mania: Main Street (2009). Players must work quickly to bake, frost, and decorate cakes to meet specific customer demands before they lose patience.
Developed by Sandlot Games, the franchise debuted during the casual gaming boom of the mid-2000s, quickly becoming a cornerstone of the time-management genre. Following its initial PC success, the series expanded to handheld consoles and mobile platforms. The original Cake Mania (2007) received a widely distributed Nintendo DS port in 2007, introducing touch-screen controls that altered the gameplay dynamic.
As the series progressed, developers introduced branching storylines and diverse settings. Cake Mania 2 (2008) offered players non-linear level progression and multiple endings, which was further expanded in the Nintendo DS version of Cake Mania 2 (2008). The narrative took a sci-fi turn in Cake Mania 3 (2009), introducing time-travel mechanics across different historical eras, a release that later saw a Nintendo DS port as Cake Mania 3 (2010).
The spin-off Cake Mania: Main Street (2009) shifted focus toward urban revitalization, allowing players to manage multiple storefronts beyond the central bakery, such as a sushi bar and a flower shop. This multi-tasking formula was adapted for handheld players in Cake Mania: Main Street (2011). The franchise remains a defining property of the late-2000s casual gaming era.
