About

Crisis Core is established by the 2007 PlayStation Portable title Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and its various regional, limited, and budget editions. The game serves as a direct prequel to the 1997 classic Final Fantasy VII, focusing on the story of Soldier Zack Fair, Cloud Strife, and Sephiroth. It was released in several physical editions globally, including a PSP Slim & Lite Limited Edition bundle, Greatest Hits, and Platinum releases.
Developed as a cornerstone of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII metaseries, this action role-playing title was directed by Hajime Tabata with character designs by Tetsuya Nomura. The gameplay uniquely integrates real-time combat with the Digital Mind Wave, a slot-machine-like mechanic that influences stats and triggers powerful limit breaks.
The initial Japanese launch of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (2007) was accompanied by the highly collectible Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII PSP Slim & Lite [Limited Edition] (2007), which bundled the game with a custom-designed silver PlayStation Portable console. Following its successful domestic debut, the game expanded internationally as Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (2008). To sustain its commercial momentum, Square Enix and Sony published several budget and regional re-issues. These included the North American Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII [Greatest Hits] (2008), the European Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII [Platinum] (2008), and the Japanese Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII [Favorites] (2008) reprint.
