Deca Sports is a franchise of sports compilation video games developed and published by Hudson Soft. The series began with the release of Deca Sports in 2008, which was followed by Deca Sports 2 in 2009 and Deca Sports 3 in 2010. These titles were released in various editions, including promotional 'Not For Resale' versions and 'Fan Favorites' budget re-releases.
Designed to utilize the motion-sensing capabilities of the Nintendo Wii, the franchise offered players ten distinct sporting events per entry. The original
Deca Sports (2008) featured events such as kart racing, snowboarding, and figure skating. To promote the game at retail and events, specialized versions like
Deca Sports [Not For Resale] (2008) were produced, while its commercial success led to the budget-priced
Deca Sports [Fan Favorites] (2008) re-release.
The sequel,
Deca Sports 2 (2009), introduced a new lineup of sports including synchronized swimming, motorcycle road racing, and ice hockey. This second entry similarly received promotional distribution via
Deca Sports 2 [Not For Resale] (2009) and was later repackaged as
Deca Sports 2 [Fan Favorites] (2009). The trilogy concluded on the platform with
Deca Sports 3 (2010), which integrated Wii MotionPlus support for enhanced precision in events like lacrosse, fencing, and giant slalom. Throughout its run, the series served as a prominent third-party alternative to first-party motion-controlled sports compilations, emphasizing multiplayer accessibility and diverse athletic disciplines.
