About

The Golf Club is a sports simulation franchise known for its realistic physics and robust course creator. The series debuted with The Golf Club in 2014, which saw subsequent Collector's Edition releases in 2015, and was followed by the sequel The Golf Club 2 in 2017. The franchise laid the groundwork for HB Studios' later PGA Tour 2K series.
Developed by HB Studios, the franchise began as an independent project aiming to provide an authentic golfing experience without traditional arcade elements. The original The Golf Club (2014) distinguished itself by omitting loading times between holes and utilizing an advanced procedural generation tool endorsed by Greg Norman. To expand its retail presence, the developer partnered with Maximum Games to release The Golf Club [Collector's Edition] across 2014 and 2015, which bundled the base game with additional tropical themes, a tournament level creator, and seasonal e-sports updates.
Building upon this foundation, The Golf Club 2 (2017) expanded the social and competitive aspects of the simulation. It introduced dynamic online societies, allowing players to create custom country clubs, manage financial entry fees, and host multi-round tournaments. The sequel also integrated a progressive career mode, refined swing tempos, and added highly detailed clubhouse environments. These iterations established a community-driven ecosystem where user-created courses could be shared cross-platform, cementing the franchise's reputation for player-led content generation.
