About

The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows video game series consists of Part 1 and Part 2, released to coincide with the film adaptations. Developed by EA Bright Light, these titles shifted the franchise's traditional gameplay toward action-oriented third-person shooter mechanics using magic spells. Players control Harry Potter and his allies on a quest to locate and destroy Voldemort's Horcruxes.

Published by Electronic Arts, the duology saw releases across diverse platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, and mobile devices. To leverage contemporary hardware, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) incorporated hands-free casting on the Xbox 360 via Kinect-exclusive challenges, while the Nintendo DS versions of both Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2009) utilized a top-down perspective and stylus-driven touchscreen controls.

The audio design featured an orchestral score composed by James Hannigan, recorded with the Philharmonia Orchestra, which earned a BAFTA nomination. While several film actors lent their likenesses, the voice cast featured a mix of soundalikes and returning film talent, such as Matthew Lewis and Evanna Lynch. Critically, the titles faced scrutiny for their repetitive combat and departure from the exploration-heavy design of earlier franchise games. This duology concluded EA's ten-year tenure of producing direct tie-in games for the wizarding film franchise, representing a distinct era of licensed gaming history.
