About

Heavy Fire is a franchise of light gun-style rail shooters developed by Polish studio Teyon. The series includes titles such as Heavy Fire: Afghanistan (2011) and Heavy Fire: The Chosen Few (2011), which place players in modern military combat scenarios. Players navigate on set paths while aiming and shooting at enemy forces using various firearms.
The franchise expanded its reach across multiple gaming platforms, transitioning from digital download services to major retail releases. Heavy Fire: Afghanistan marked a significant milestone for the series by debuting on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii. To appeal to fans of traditional arcade cabinets, the game was distributed both individually and as part of the Heavy Fire: Afghanistan [Gun Bundle], which packaged the software with a specialized plastic rifle peripheral designed to house motion controllers.
On handheld platforms, Heavy Fire: The Chosen Few adapted the gameplay formula for the Nintendo 3DS. This release leveraged the system's stereoscopic 3D effects to add visual depth to the cover-based shooting mechanics. Across these 2011 releases, players earn experience points to unlock superior weaponry, equipment upgrades, and military promotions. The games also feature destructible environments and multi-player cooperative modes, allowing up to four players on home consoles to coordinate their attacks. The series later continued with Heavy Fire: Shattered Spear in 2013, maintaining the franchise's focus on high-tempo, accessible military action.
