About
The Rugby League Live series simulates professional rugby league football, featuring licensed teams, players, and leagues. The franchise includes the original Rugby League Live (2010), Rugby League Live 2 (2012) with its World Cup and Game of the Year editions, and Rugby League Live 3.
Developed primarily by Big Ant Studios and published by Tru Blu Entertainment, the franchise transitioned the sport into the high-definition gaming era. The initial release of Rugby League Live (2010) established the core gameplay mechanics on seventh-generation consoles, featuring online multiplayer and cooperative play.
Building upon this foundation, Rugby League Live 2 (2012) introduced a comprehensive, multi-year Career Mode, refined passing systems, and tactical defensive controls. To capitalize on major sporting events, Tru Blu released Rugby League Live 2 [World Cup Edition] (2012/2013), which integrated official tournament branding, alongside the content-complete Rugby League Live 2 [Game of the Year] (2012).
The subsequent release of Rugby League Live 3 (2013) advanced the series by incorporating a revamped "Be a Pro" mode, dynamic real-time positioning, and an interactive FanHub. This sharing suite allowed players to create and share highly detailed custom rosters, clubs, and players across the community, securing the series' legacy as a highly customizable sports simulation.
