Set in the 13th century, Genghis Khan II: Clan of the Gray Wolf is a game about the life of Temujin, also known as Genghis Khan. The story follows his rise to power and unification of the Mongol tribes.
The gameplay is similar to other strategy games from Koei. The player must develop their own provinces, form alliances and recruit armies. They can choose from various scenarios, including the conquest of Mongolia or a world conquest with up to six playable factions. Battles are presented in a separate mode where the player gives commands to troops.
