Christmas Crisis is a 2D platform game with a Christmas theme. The player takes on the role of Santa Claus, tasked with disarming twenty-four presents rigged with explosives by Dr. Rubberchicken's evil plans. Armed with snowballs, Santa must use them to knock out evil toys sent to stop him in his path.
As Santa navigates through levels, he can collect items such as treasure and snow to replenish his snowballs. Additionally, collecting enough treasure earns the player a password to restart the game from that level after dying.
The game features new themes for each level, culminating in a final showdown against Dr. Rubberchicken's ultimate creation. Most levels are vertically oriented, allowing for plenty of jumping and platforming challenges. Interludes between levels feature 3D bonus levels where Santa rides his sleigh, dodging obstacles along the way.
