Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Mermaids

The gameplay begins with a 3D environment where Dora can move freely around the beach. As she encounters trash, Boots picks it up automatically. Dora uses scallop shells and swim rings to launch herself and jump. Items are hidden below heaps of sand or in treasure chests. Arrows guide her to the direction where to proceed, and running through flowers shows butterflies in different colours.

The main goal is to stop an octopus that dumps garbage on the Mermaid Kingdom at the bottom of the ocean. Dora needs to collect crown gems and return a magic crown to the mermaids. Along the way, she meets new friends, learns new skills like using ropes and surfing, and plays mini-games with educational elements. For example, she must clean up seashell bridges and match keys with locks based on colours.
