Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is the fifth main game in the Ghost Recon series. The game is set in 2024 and follows a team of four soldiers as they investigate a dirty bomb in Nicaragua. The mission takes them to various locations around the world, including Bolivia, Zambia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Norway, and Russia.
The gameplay involves third-person perspective with first-person aiming down the sights. Soldiers can be taken out with guns or silent melee attacks, and have access to adaptive camouflage that renders them invisible when moving slowly. The game also features a variety of equipment, including sensor grenades, airstrikes, and remote-controlled drones.
Players can prioritize targets using Sync Shot, where up to four can be marked for a synchronized takedown by the full team. Team mates do not blindly pursue targets and stand down when it compromises their position permanently. The game also features a tagging system that replaces the direct order system from previous games.
Multiplayer includes a cooperative mode with four-player co-op, as well as separate modes such as Guerrilla and Conflict. Other multiplayer modes include Decoy, Saboteur, and Siege, each with its own unique gameplay mechanics.
