Kinect Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure is a game designed for the Xbox 360 Kinect motion peripheral that offers different types of games based on a licensed property. The game features various mini-games based on five Pixar movies, including Cars , The Incredibles , Ratatouille , Toy Story , and Up! , with several levels for each.
The story begins with creating an avatar based on a face scan, which is then adapted to the protagonist for the games. The different games are accessed from a central hub called Pixar Park and levels are started by talking to the kids there.
The gameplay involves playing various mini-games, most of which are played from a third-person perspective with a similar control mechanism. Moving forward is done by swinging your arms as if running, while turning is done by turning a shoulder in the desired direction.
Levels generally consist of platform courses that need to be completed while avoiding obstacles and defeating enemies. To avoid tiredness, there are many ski-like sections where the character moves forward constantly and the player only needs to tilt to steer. Certain levels have minor puzzle sections where projectiles can be thrown, or sequences with the character balancing on balls, going down zip lines, jumping platforms, freefalling down tubes, and defeating foes by throwing items.
Most of the levels require the player to collect coins or to finish the level in time to unlock extras such as new characters, abilities, and concept art. Some of these abilities and characters are needed to access secret areas. The game also features cooperative multiplayer for another player, with a drop-in/drop-out style.
The performance is awarded with bronze, silver, gold, or platinum levels based on the total points. When a single obstacle proves to be a hindrance, the game offers the option to skip it and move on.
