Eighty years ago, mankind left Earth to build a new life on the planet E.D.N. III. However, their arrival sparked a war with the Akrids, a bug-like alien race that deemed humanity's presence a threat. The humans were no match for the Akrids and were forced to retreat from the planet. Tragedy struck when Adam's father was killed by an Akrid named "Green Eye". This event fueled humanity's desire to fight back and claimed the valuable thermal energy stored within the Akrids' bodies as a key resource.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is a 3rd-person shooter where players control Adam, seeking revenge for his father's death. The game involves destroying Akrid hives and ultimately defeating "Green Eye". Along the way, Adam must complete various objectives and face numerous challenges. One of the key factors in survival is managing thermal energy, which can be replenished by activating Data Posts or destroying objects that contain it.

In addition to the single-player campaign, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition features a multiplayer mode where players can compete online against up to 16 opponents. The game modes include Deathmatch and Team-deathmatch, as well as "Station Control" and "Fugitive", which add a new layer of strategy and excitement.
