A year after their reunion, Adam's brother Sammy returns home to find their apartment in disarray and his brother missing. A photo shows Adam chained to a wall, next to Mr. X, who has returned to wreak havoc on the city once again. With Axel, Blaze, Sammy, and Max, a pro wrestler, joining forces to stop him.

Streets of Rage 2 features improved graphics with more detailed characters and animations, as well as new gameplay mechanics. The rocket move has been replaced by a special move that can be used both offensively and defensively. Additionally, life bars have been added for all enemies, and new characters bring new challenges.

Streets of Rage 2 is available on the Sega Genesis console and was released on December 20, 1992 . It builds upon the success of its predecessor with a fresh take on gameplay and graphics. Players can expect a challenging action-adventure experience as they take on Mr. X and his minions.
