Dark Law is set 300 years after a devastating war between two kingdoms, Reyfore and Amugnon. The kingdoms were once at peace, but King Daruk's pride and obsession with destruction led to his attack on Reyfore. However, he was defeated by King Reynard, ending the war and restoring prosperity.
Dark Law 's story takes a darker turn when the hero, a young adventurer, falls from a cliff and is saved by an old man who lives with his daughter Refia. However, their peaceful life is disrupted when a demonic knight appears, kills the old man, and kidnaps Refia. The old man recognizes the knight as King Daruk, setting the stage for the hero's quest to rescue Refia and defeat the king.
The gameplay in Dark Law features a non-linear structure, with optional missions that add to the game's replay value. At the beginning of the game, you create a party of four characters, including the hero and his companions. Battles take place on the same screen as the gameworld, where your party and enemies can move freely and attack using melee and ranged weapons. Your party's actions depend on their action points, and navigation in towns is menu-based.
