The game requires strategy, as you'll need to collect colored bells to deal with the various enemies and bosses that Dr. Warmon throws at you. Each color bell gives you access to different attacks, such as a laser for blue bells or a lash for orange bells. Even without these bells, you have standard moves like a shock wave and flight capabilities.
