Vortex is a 3D shooter game for the Super Famicom that uses the SNES Super FX 1 chip. The gameplay is similar to Star Fox , but with some key differences. Players can transform their vehicle into three different forms, each with its own unique abilities and weapons.

The player takes on the role of a soldier fighting against the Aki-Do Forces, an evil empire that seeks to conquer the universe. To stop them, the player must pilot an experimental mech, known as the Vortex , through seven worlds of the Aki-Do system and destroy enemy bases.
