How to Play
Introduction
SpongeBob and his friends hop aboard a magic bus and head to the legendary city of Atlantis, home of the “World's Oldest Living Bubble.” The whole gang is looking forward to finding their own favorite treasures.
But they'll have to work together to overcome all sorts of trouble-making sea creatures and perilous obstacles by relying on each other's special abilities!
Set-Up
1. Turn OFF the Power Switch on your Nintendo® Game Boy® Advance. Never insert or remove a Game Pak when the power is on.
2. Insert the SpongeBob's: ATLANTIS SQUAREPANTIS™ Game Pak into the slot on the Game Boy® Advance. To lock the Game Pak in place, press firmly.
3. Turn ON the Power Switch. The title screen should appear (if you don't see it, begin again at step 1).
4. When the title screen appears, press START to proceed to the Main Menu.
Main Menu
Use the +Control Pad and press the A Button to choose from the following two menu selections.
•
New Game: Start a New Game of SpongeBob's: ATLANTIS SQUAREPANTIS™.
•
Password: Go to the Password Entry screen.
Gameplay
Work with your partner to clear the levels and advance through the game! This game allows you to choose two characters. Select from SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs, and Sandy.
The two characters must work together in order to advance through the game. There will be locations where you must use specific character combinations to overcome obstacles, solve puzzles, or get hard to reach items.
All characters use a shared amount of Rainbow Power, which represents your characters health. Collect melody shells to fill your EXP gauge. When your EXP gauge is full, your characters Level Up.
Level Up to fully recover and get a larger Rainbow Power capacity. The character you control is called the player character. Only the player character can be attacked by an enemy and pick up items.
The partner character will automatically follow “safely” behind. Press the L Button to switch to the partner character.
You'll be able to change your characters during the game after Mr. Krabs and Sandy join up with SpongeBob and Patrick. Press Up on the +Control Pad to enter the special Character change doors in the main game.
When you select the Player Character (1st selection), a description about that character will be displayed in the bottom window. When you select the Partner Character, the bottom window will display the Combo Move that can be performed with the Player Character you currently have selected.
Press Down or Up on the +Control Pad to view more text in the bottom window. You will automatically return back to the game after selecting the partner character.
Press the B Button to cancel a selection or exit the screen and return back to the game.
World HUBs
There will be three different HUBs, one for each world. There will be multiple features you can access by approach another characters or items. Some of these features are as follows:
•
Patrick (World 1): Game Difficulty Screen - Set the game's difficulty to your preferred setting.
•
Squidward (World 1): Tutorial - Replay the opening tutorial.
•
Mr. Krabs (World 1): Minigame Menu - Replay the minigames that you already cleared in the main game.
•
Sandy (World 1): Cut Scene Room - You can select thumbnail images and view the full sized images used during the game's cut scenes.
•
Magic Bus: World Select - You can travel to the W2 or W3 HUB if they have been unlocked.
•
Sandy (World 2): Replay the Tutorial that teaches how to control Sandy.
•
Mr. Krabs (World 2): Replay the Tutorial that teaches how to control Mr. Krabs.
•
Squidward (World 3): Credits - View the game's credits (*This is available after the game is cleared).
•
Patrick (World 3): Sound Room - Listen to the music used in the game (*This is available after the game is cleared).

Golden Spatula
You'll have to find this and bring it to Mr. Krabs to advance.
Atlantean Thing-a-Majig
You'll need to find this item and show it to Sandy to advance the story.
Lever
This item opens the Atlantis door. You'll need to find it to advance.
