In this adventure, Mario and Luigi must venture into the dangerous Mushroom World to rescue the royal magic wands stolen by Bowser's seven children. These villains have used the wands to transform local kings into animals, plunging the land into chaos. The brothers' mission is to recover the wands and restore the kings to their true forms.
Story
The Mushroom World
The Mushroom Kingdom has remained a peaceful place, thanks to the brave deeds of Mario and Luigi. However, the Mushroom Kingdom forms an entrance to the Mushroom World, a place where all is not well.
Bowser sent his seven children to make mischief in this normally peaceful land. As their first order of business, they stole the royal magic wands from each country in the Mushroom World. They used them to turn the kings into animals.
The Quest
Mario and Luigi must recover the royal magic wands from Bowser's seven kids to return the kings to their true forms. As Mario and Luigi set off on their journey deep into the Mushroom World, Princess Peach and Toad have but one thing to say:

"Good-bye, and good luck!"
How to Play
Single-Pak Linking Instructions
Link multiple Game Boy Advance systems using one Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 Game Pak.
Necessary Equipment
•
Game Boy Advance systems: One system per player
•
Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 Game Paks: One
•
Game Boy Advance Game Link® cables (sold separately)
Cable requirements by player count:
•
Two players: one cable
•
Three players: two cables
•
Four players: three cables
Linking Instructions
1. Make sure that the Power Switches on all of the game systems are turned OFF.
2. Insert the Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 Game Pak into Player 1's Game Pak slot.
3. Connect the Game Link cables.
4. Insert the cables into the External Extension Connectors (EXT).
•
Insert the small, purple connector into Player 1's game system.
•
Insert the large, gray connectors into the other game systems.
5. Turn each system's Power Switch ON.
6. Follow the controller instructions on page 42.
•
Do not connect any game systems that will not be used when playing with only two or three players.
•
Note: The Game Pak goes into Player 1's game system. The small connector is purple; the large one is gray.
Single-Pak Link Troubleshooting
You may be unable to transfer game data or experience malfunctions in these situations:
•
Using any cables other than Game Boy Advance Game Link cables.
•
A Game Link cable is not fully inserted into a game system.
•
A Game Link cable is removed during the transfer of data.
•
A Game Link cable is incorrectly connected to a game system.
•
The Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 Game Pak is inserted into any system other than Player 1's Game Boy Advance.
•
More than four Game Boy Advance game systems are linked.
Multi-Pak Linking Instructions
Link multiple Game Boy Advance game systems using multiple Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 Game Paks.

Linking Instructions
1. Turn all Power Switches OFF.

4. Turn each system's Power Switch ON.

Linking Instructions
1. Check that the power on both hardware systems is OFF.
2. Insert the Game Pak in Player 1's hardware system and the e-Reader in Player 2's hardware system.
3. Connect the Game Boy Advance Game Link cable to Player 1's hardware system through the EXT Port on Player 2's e-Reader.
•
When linking to a GBA SP, connect to EXT Port 1.
•
When linking to a GBA or Game Boy Player with an e-Reader, insert the cable in the EXT port on the e-Reader.
•
When linking to a GBA SP with an e-Reader, insert the cable in the EXT port on the GBA SP.
4. Turn each system's Power Switch ON.

Linking Troubleshooting
Communication errors or control problems may be caused by:
•
Using a cable other than a Game Boy Advance Game Link cable.
•
A loose connection.
•
Disconnecting the Game Boy Advance Game Link cable during communication.

Tips & Maps
Raccoon Mario
Mario can fly for a short period by holding the B Button to fill the Power Meter and then tapping the A Button repeatedly. He can also attack with a Tail Attack by swinging the B Button and float down by tapping A after jumping.
Frog Mario
Mario can swim freely using the Control Pad and swims faster by pressing the A Button.
Tanooki Suit
Tanooki Mario can turn into an invincible statue for a short period by pressing the Control Pad down while pressing the B Button.
Garbage Can
In Two-Player Vs, throwing a rival into the garbage can traps them and awards you a random item, while being trapped yourself yields a special item; you can escape using a Super Jump or by waiting for the lid to open.
Koopa Shells
These shells damage anything they hit and must be thrown or kicked to slide away.
POW Blocks
Tossing a POW Block onto the ground stuns all on-screen enemies and shrinks rival players.
Fish Skeletons
These items are useless and smell funny, so they should be thrown away.
Eggs
Found in the garbage can, eggs contain one of several items, including a coin, Starmen, or Hearts.
Starmen
Collecting a Starmen makes Mario temporarily invincible.
Hearts
Collecting a Heart transforms Mario into Super Mario.
