Mystic Heroes, from Product Name , is a fighting game based on the novel Fengshen Yanyi from the 16th century. The player takes on the role of a hero who battles against the evil ex-emperor Kang and his magical army.
The gameplay involves wading through enemy hordes and killing them all, with the choice between eight characters, each with different advantages and disadvantages. Players can choose between sword-based attacks or magical abilities, and also use combo attacks to increase their chances of winning.
Throughout the game, players can find magical runes that grant additional abilities and power-ups, such as health refreshments, mana boosts, or temporary improvements to stats. Some of these runes must be earned by completing the story mode multiple times, allowing players to keep their character's abilities and statistics if they're reused.
Players also have the option to play Survival mode, which offers a different experience from the main game despite sharing the same storyline.

Enemies & Characters
SHIGA
A stubborn young boy from the East. He gets into trouble during his journey with Lani to the City of the Ancients. Good balance between attack and defense techniques. Ideal for beginners.
LANII
She comes from a long line of mystics and holds many secrets. She only fights when there is no other solution. Very skilled in magic and special moves. She is not a fan of close combat.
TAI
A powerful and very experienced mystic. He trained alone until mysterious events brutally ended his studies. His power and abilities largely compensate for his slowness.
NAJA
Naja is the daughter of a mystic. She has some scores to settle and was sent by Master Gen to investigate the strange events of Mt Hoshin. Fast and powerful, close combat is her specialty.

How to Play
START A GAME
Inserting a NINTENDO GAMECUBE Memory Card
Insert a memory card into slot A of the NINTENDO GAMECUBE.
Make sure you have enough space on the memory card before you start playing. You will need 2 to 6 blocks to save a game.

Game save file: 1 block each (5 max)
Inserting the game disc
Insert the Mystic Heroes game disc into the NINTENDO GAMECUBE, close the lid, and press the power button. The introduction sequence begins.
Accessing the title screen
Press START/PAUSE to directly access the title screen. If you press START/PAUSE again, you will have the option to choose a Mode.
If you press a button during the demo, you will return to the title screen.
Choosing the mode
Choose a game mode.
•
New game: Play in story mode.
•
Continue: Resume a game in story mode.
•
Survival: How far will you go?
•
Options: Consult the best scores, the index of runes or the character profiles.
•
Settings: Modify game settings.
•
Multiplayer: Play with others.
Save/Load
Save
You can save story mode data in the menu before combat. It is possible to save up to 5 games on a memory card. You can return to the title screen after saving.
This game requires a memory card to save your progress, settings, or results. Please refer to the NINTENDO GAMECUBE instruction manual for information on formatting and deleting files from a Memory Card.
Load
Select [Continue] on the title screen to load data.

Best scores: to see the best scores, established according to elapsed time, total points, defeated enemies, and best combo.

Character profiles: to display the presentation of the various characters.

Runes index: to see the runes collected during the game.

STORY MODE
Defeat the scattered enemies on the map to complete the level! There are 8 levels in total, with a maximum of 5 maps per level.
To play
1 Character selection
When the introduction sequence ends, choose one of the four main characters. The story begins once you have made your choice.
When you finish a part and when you restart a part at the same difficulty level, you can recover the stats you have accumulated in the previous part.
2 Screen before combat
This screen allows you to save data, change runes, and consult player information. When you are ready, choose [Start Combat] to play.
3 Start combat!
The conditions you must meet to complete the level are indicated first. Your objective is to fulfill the conditions, while annihilating the monsters that have the misfortune of crossing your path.
Warning: if your life level drops to zero, you have lost.
4 Objective: the last map!
The last map of each level includes a main boss. To complete the level, you must defeat the boss.
5 Level finished!
Your points are displayed on this screen. Points are awarded according to certain factors such as elapsed time and the number of defeated enemies and allies.

Tips & Maps
Relationship between spell level and runes
A character's magic level must be at least as high as a spell's level to use it, unless they have an affinity with that spell.
When no rune is used...
You can use spells even without an equipped rune, with the available spells depending on your character's affinity.
Rune Index
All runes found in the game will be registered in the Rune Index.
Zansen
A Wind rune, also known as the 'flying daggers rune', with spells like Wind Blade, Whirlwind, Blizzard, and Avalanche.
Teikai
An Ice rune that 'freezes absolutely everything instantly!'
Goma
A Thunder rune, embodying 'the power of lightning!', with spells like Lightning and Thunder Blade.
Zetsu
A Fire rune that encourages you to 'Light the fire, baby!', with spells like Fireball, Fire Blade, and Volcano.
Direct Spell
Unleash a magic bolt directly in front of you, but keep your distance as you are defenseless during this attack.
Jump Spell
Ideal when surrounded, performed during a jump, but be careful not to kill your allies.
Target Spell
Select an enemy and aim by holding the Y button, then release Y to use magic.
Sword Spell
A powerful sword attack that strikes enemies in proximity.
Spell Combo
After the 2nd or 3rd hit of a normal attack, press the Y button to unleash a magic bolt that goes directly to the enemy, making you less vulnerable.
DO NOT FORGET DURING MAGIC ATTACKS
Magic makes no distinction between friends and enemies, so ensure your allies are not at risk when performing a magic attack.
Magic Sword
A powerful combination where, after 2 or 3 normal sword strikes, your weapon is enveloped with magic and continues to strike, ideal for chaining hits.
Sword Spell 2
When your magic level is at maximum, hold down the button to deal a lot of damage to the enemy, allowing you to attack while moving and preventing the enemy's guard from recovering.
Sword Spell Combo
First, launch a normal attack, then after the 2nd or 3rd hit, press the X button to strike the enemy with a magical weapon and continue the attack by pressing X.
AN EFFECTIVE COMBO!
Magic sword combos differ based on distance and situation, sometimes ending with a magic jump, which is a super ultra powerful attack.
Attack the boss
Ignore simple soldiers and focus on the boss first, as some may provide items.
Use spells effectively
Use sword spells for close combat and target or jump spells for long-range combat to increase spell levels and be more effective.
Specialize in one type of magic
Specializing in one type of magic will give you an advantage over bosses.
Clear the way to allow your allies to retreat!
Ensure your allies have a safe escape route; if they can retreat safely, they will recover and return to help, but if caught, they risk being surrounded and killed.
Look closely at the traps on the map
As you progress, you will discover traps and tricks, such as luminous platforms to jump on and strange switches or pillars to destroy.
Roc
Appears at the end of level 1 of the Shiga/Lani quest; focus on its legs if attacking up close, and beware of its fire breath if attacking from a distance.
T'ai Shan
Appears at the end of level 1 of the Tai/Naja quest; use direct and target spells, dodge its ray, and avoid it when it charges.
